This place is located in Girirejo Village, Imogiri, Bantul .
It is about 17 km from the city center of Yogyakata. It is a cemetery of the old
kings, the family, of Mataram dynasty
(Yogyakarta and Surakarta) in ancient times, which is known as the Makam Raja
Imogiri. Makam Raja Imogiri is a complex
of tombs that are considered holy and sacred by local people, Makam Raja
Imogiri also often used as a place for pilgrimage by the public. Not only used
as a burial place, but Makam Raja Imogiri also become one of the icons of
existing attractions in Bantul, if you are visiting Yogyakarta.
Makam Raja Imogiri stands on a hill called Bukit Merak. Below
the hill there is a village called Pajimatan, Pajimatan is the residential area
around and courtiers caretaker responsible for the sustainability of the
ceremonies as well as the maintenance of the cemetery in the kingdom. The
grandeur and beauty of the Makam Raja Imogiri is already clearly visible from
the foothills of the Bukit Merak. The view is looks beautiful, soothing every
